How PhotoCarbs works
Three steps to log a meal: take a photo, check it and save.
Updated:
1. Take a photo
Open the camera in the app and take a photo of your plate. You can also use a photo from your gallery.
2. Check
The AI identifies the foods and estimates the carbs in each item. The total appears up front, with the list of items right below.
3. Save
Review the result: edit quantities, remove items that weren't on the plate and save. The meal goes into your history, and you can mark favorites to repeat later.
After the meal
You can log your blood glucose manually and see your history with meal times. If you use FreeStyle Libre, the app can import readings through your LibreLinkUp account. PhotoCarbs is not affiliated with Abbott.
Calculation with your insulin ratio
Where available, if you enter your own insulin-to-carb ratio, the app divides the carbs by it and shows the math. It does not recommend doses, correct blood glucose or control insulin pumps.
App limits
- AI estimates can be wrong, especially with mixed dishes.
- The app is a support tool and does not replace a healthcare professional.
- Some features depend on the platform and country.
Do I need to create an account?

Can I edit the result?
